Move Over Chun Li

Finally. A female Korean street fighter. Why couldn’t they come up with this 15 years ago when I was still at a respectable age to play?

Honestly I don’t like her all that much. I hate the double ponytails, the upward slanted eyes, the outfit (purple crotch pants? and …purple?), random stripes on her body and what’s up with the fake eye? Stupid.  Another concoction of a nerdy guy’s fantasies.  Wouldn’t it be amazingly different if we can have a fully clothed female fighter, like the one below?

Juri with taekwondo uniform. Much better.

Was Juri modeled after Yuna Kim, South Korea’s adoring little figure skater?

My Crib

I love my little place. I think it’s definitely a lot more affordable and easier to live in Seoul more comfortably than New York. (Ironically Seoul dropped from 2nd to 3rd most expensive city to live according to a study done by Mercer this year. New York is in 15th place…)
Sometimes i think it’s ridiculous how much money you can make here just because you have a bachelor’s degree and can speak English. There is still so much demand here but it is competitive…I don’t have a teaching certificate or experience so I’m sure I’m not making as much as others.

Of course as vibrant as the economy feels here, there are many homeless in the subway stations as it is in other metropolitan cities. Once I found this man who painted for a living. I took such a long time in selecting what I wanted to buy that he told me he would just give me another one for free which was very sweet of him.

So here is what speaking English can afford me:

It’s not big but it’s comfortable and I bet it would be twice as more expensive in NY for this space. So what you can’t see is the bathroom and little door room for the washer on the left. To the right you can see a little bit of the blue sofa and next to it are my closets, which you can’t see either. And yeah, that’s my 360. I’ve been playing a lot last week because the new maps came out. ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Because I’ve been playing at night, I’ve been playing with people from Guam, Japan and Australia. In the morning, I’ll play with the US gamers and the usual gang.

Bungie also added a soccer ball in customizing your maps. It’s pretty awesome…you can play soccer in halo. Who would’ve thunk =)

aight i’m done blogging. peace.

Finishing the Fight

I tell myself everyday at 1:00 AM that I should be sleeping and everyday I don’t.

Why do I find it so important to blog about my cousin who snuck my 360 out of my room to play halo3 while I was away for the weekend beats me but that’s exactly what he did. I cant believe he did that, but on the other hand I can because who wouldn’t sacrifice sleep and their eye vision to play halo 3? (rick are you done with it already?)
So he told me that he found it so addicting that he played it until 4 in the morning. He described some villain that he came across that i have never encountered so he’s past me. (He’s doing easy though). he was at least nice enough to create his own profile on my 360 so as not to ruin my own campaign.
One of the new features about h3 is the metagame in it where you can rack up points and win more awards and what not. There are skulls hidden throughout the game and if you find them, they have a slight debilitating power. At the same time, it unlocks an achievement award and gives you different armor and helmets that you can sport. You can eventually get to the point where you don’t look like master chief at all. (and you can finally have a female voice…’bout time!)
And I still can’t believe I am playing halo in Korea.

For those of you worried that I’m glued to the TV set, I can assure you I’m not. I’m also  working a daunting 8 hours a week you know. =) But I’ll also post on Korean ‘potato’ soup, meeting my younger cousins, visiting my aunt’s elementary school, odd-jobs, my first American meal here, Korean lessons and naked ladies at public bath houses. Pictures included! no not really.

good night y’all …
